history
Praise@Work is a cross-parish Catholic Charismatic prayer group for young working adults. We reach out to young working adults who seek to deepen their Catholic faith through charismatic form of worship and witnessing. We also welcome people who are interested in reaching out to young working adults and deepening their spiritual growth to be part of us.
Praise@Work was started in 1995 with a handful of people. The original group of people started the group after leaving NUS Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group (NUSCCPG). This little seed has grown over the years and we now have a vibrant community of young working adults. Most members are in their 20s and 30s and the LORD continues to bring more wonderful individuals to our group every year.
why praise@work ?
The term “Praise @ Work” has both the meaning of :
i) the praise and glory of God “works”, this is what really giving
us strength, hope, joy and direction in life
ii) We seek to praise and glorify our God when doing our daily work
as young working adults, we seek to be witnesses to Christ at our
working environment.
The praise and glory of God gives us joy and hope, for we know that the almighty, who is in control of everything, is full of goodness, full of love and mercy. Praising God is doing something that is just and right, for He is worthy of all praises at all time. It makes us humble, in knowing that the source of all goodness and holiness is only God and nothing else. Praising God helps us to look beyond our personal problem, to be less self-centred but focus on God and on the goodness of all His creation.
Our praises from our inmost being shall flow from the commandments – 1) to Love the LORD our GOD with all our Heart, with all our Mind, with all our Soul and with all our Strength and 2) to Love our neighbour as ourselves.
In the Holy MASS, we pray in unity that “it is always right to give Him thanks and praise”. We need to make it a reality - to give thanks and praise to God more and more, to be convicted of His goodness deeper and deeper through our journey together as one spiritual family in Christ.
where does praise@work belong ?
Praise@Work belongs belongs to Our LORD Jesus Christ, through belonging to His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. We seek to deepen our personal relationship with Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit. All Catholic Charismatic groups in Singapore belong to Singapore Archdiocese Catholic Charismatic Renewal Experience (SACCRE) with Fr. William Goh as our spiritual director.
Besides SACCRE, Praise @ Work is also part of the Catholic Young Adults Network (CYAN).
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth and unity. We shall seek unity at all times, within our prayer group, with our sister groups, within SACCRE and CYAN, and most importantly, in faithfulness to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic faith which Christ our LORD has given to us. We shall always serve God and seek His Kingdom first.
