introduction

As Praise@Work is both a prayer group as well as a community of peers in the 20s/30s age group of young working adults, we have a good balance of regular prayer meetings as well as other activities that allow the members to bond as brothers and sisters as well as creating opportunities for them to serve the larger community within and outside the Catholic Church - for in service we learn.  3 of our largest initiatives are conducting Life In The Spirit Seminar (LISS), Christ@Work Workplace Ministry Conference & Faith@Work Community Programs. We also have various social activities (e.g. weekend getaways, cycling, bowling etc.) to further bond the community.

types of activities

  • prayer meetings -  every wednesday
  • service - e.g. Christ@Work, Faith@Work, LISS etc.
  • social - cycling, bowling, weekend getaways etc.

Our prayer meetings are held every week on Wednesdays at 7.45pm to 9.45pm at St. Bernadette's church (usually AV Room or Classroom 8). Every alternate week it takes the form of what we call an Upper Room Session - a closer more intimate setting that focuses on The Word and intercessory. The other activities occur throughout the year.

prayer meeting

The large group prayer meeting is the fundamental heartbeat of Praise@Work. It serves to build us and offers us an opportunity to praise our Lord in a charismatic way. It comprises the following format:

  • thanksgiving
  • sign of peace
  • praise and worship
  • prophecy
  • talk/sharing (big group etc.)
  • big group intercession
  • praying over

Come and join us for our next prayer meeting. It is truly an uplifting experience.

bible sharing session

The bible sharing session is usually held in the prayer meeting slot on alternative weeks and is meant to be a more contemplative and intimate prayer meeting. It serves to build us through deepening our knowledge of the word. It comprises the following format:

  • worship
  • bible study and sharing
  • intercessory

liss

Praise@Work conducts the Life In Spirit Seminar series every year and serves to introduce the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the charismatic form of prayer to interested Catholics. It takes the form of a 5-week program over Saturdays (including a stay-in weekend retreat). It is usually held in around July.

christ@work conference

Praise@Work organises a large full-day conference every 2 years (next one being in 2007) that focuses on workplace ministry (i.e. the role that Christ plays in our working lives). It consists of talks, panel sessions, and other interesting items. For a Catholic News article on this conference held in 2005 please click here.

faith@work community program

Praise@Work conducts a major community outreach program every 2 years to serve people in God's kingdom who need our help. In 2006 we were involved in raising money to help the Don Bosco sisters support the education of poor children in Cambodia. Read more

c@@l activities

Praise@Work organises social activities every 3 months or so to help the community bond closer together. In the past we have done things like scuba diving, nature walks, forest retreats, cycling, bowling, fun fairs etc.

other activities

We also organise other activities as they best serve our community and the larger Catholic community. We spread more information through our weekly email bulletin.
